The Downtown Clifton Cowboy and Cowgirl
Danny Martin’s mural is resolute local. The figures, a male and female skeleton, reference the imagery of Dia de Los Muertos, highlighting the region’s Mexican heritage and the city’s annual all souls procession, while the pair’s cattle ranching attire reminds us of the livelihood that helped economically develop the region. The cowboy and cowgirl stand against a backdrop of red mountains and a pink and yellow sunset that cartoonishly emulates. Tucson’s arresting landscape as well as the state’s flag.
